There’s more to summer than just going to the beach, it’s also a time when you can enjoy a real spectacle for the senses thanks to the lavender fields. Relax by strolling alongside this scenic delight, close your eyes and appreciate its iconic relaxing aroma and, of course, take in one of the greatest treasures to be found in rural Spain. In this article, we suggest five top destinations. Remember: in July and August the lavender fields are at their most splendid.

HAVE FUN WITH THE LAVENDER FESTIVAL AT THE PARADOR IN SIGÜENZA

Brihuega is the best example of the lavender fields at the height of the season. The site where it is located is known as the Garden of the Alcarria. Every year, the residents of the municipality eagerly await this event, where the well-known Lavender Festival is held with the visit of renowned national artists such as Víctor Manuel and the group Taburete, among other fun activities. Not only do you get to enjoy the aromas and nature, but also Spanish music and traditions!

Without leaving Guadalajara, we’re waiting for you with open arms at the Parador de Sigüenza. You can continue to appreciate the floral beauty in our gardens. And, to make your visit more complete, we recommend a stop in the old town, just a few metres from the Parador. Here you’ll find many historical sites: the main square, the walls, the Puerta del Sol and the Arco del Portal Mayor are just some of the many architectural works to be seen in the area.

NATURE, ART AND HISTORY FOR A DREAM TRIP AT THE PARADOR DE OLITE

Olite and its lavender fields are a favourite spot for influencers to boast about on social media, and with good reason. The lavender coexists with vineyards and cereal fields. Taken all together, it’s sublime to behold. However, it’s even more impressive to see how companies in the sector use this plant to produce everyday products such as fragrances, cosmetics, essential oils and gastronomic products, among others. Prepare your camera and open your mind to make the most of the experience!

In the same region as all the tourist attractions, you’ll find the Parador de Olite. History and art will enrich your trip, as the surroundings of the establishment are home to one of the finest Gothic civil complexes in Europe. At the same time, we’ll make sure you delight in the most select Navarrese gastronomy. On our menu, you’ll discover local dishes like asparagus, artichoke, chilindrón and txistorra, among many others.

COME TO THE PARADOR DE LERMA AND BE AMAZED BY THE LAVENDER FIELD OF SANTO DOMINGO DE SILOS

Santo Domingo de Silos, the neighbouring village of our Parador in Lerma (31 kilometres), closes our list this week. Its lavender fields next to the Monastery of Silos are a scene worthy of engraving on your retina. The flora is accompanied by a California redwood tree that’s more than 30 metres high and 100 years old. The cobbled streets and medieval architecture will make you feel like you're in a fairytale.

Santo Domingo de Silos is not the only place to visit. Leaving the car behind, in Lerma, you can't leave without taking in the marvellous views from the Mirador de los Arcos lookout point, next to the tomb of Cura Merino. The collegiate church of San Pedro is another architectural work that will not leave you indifferent. And the best thing? You can enjoy a gastronomic binge and then burn off some calories in the gym in our Parador. Do you have room for roast suckling lamb?
